NBC

Endangered ~~~~Air Date: 4/30/201

Slide show of NBC's birthing scene above

It was a was a wonderful opportunity to be approached by Drew Pinniger (prop master at NBC) and asked to rent one of my lifelike dolls for a birthing scene.

Although GRIMM is not really a drama I would usually watch; I was told that the scene would "glorify the beauty of childbirth".

3 Elsie Mae's at the beginning stages of the painting process

Same 3 Elsie Mae's after completion below:

A Little About Elsie-Mae

I sculpted Elsie-Mae by hand out of a lump of polymer clay using no molds. I use my imagination & my memories of my own children when they were babies & I also use photographs of babies.

I then had my original clay sculpture reproduced in silicone.

Elsie Mae is a one piece FULL BODY (anatomically correct) SUPER SOFT Eco-Flex platinum silicone doll.

Elsie-Mae has no cloth body. She is not jointed nor has an armature.

Elsie-Mae's body is poured in ONE piece. The limbs are NOT joined on afterwards.  Her head is permanently bonded on with silicone after it comes out of the mold. It adhere as one piece of solid silicone.

The soft silicone is much softer than the regular silicone. Her limbs will easily bend, move, and even her fingers will jiggle with movement when she is picked up.

There are 23 Elsie dolls in the edition (& 3 prototypes too).

This is a custom piece of artwork and the timeframes are only estimates.
This "new" soft silicone is very particular, and this is my first experience with full bodied dolls. They take 4 times longer to make than the previous cloth body silicone dolls. I was not expecting this.
I am also a perfectionist and refuse to rush through the job. I let all of Elsie-Mae mommies know that I would have to finish the Joel edition before I would be able to begin the Elsie-Mae edition. And once I began the edition; it could take 12 months to complete. All 13 Joel are completed and displayed on his webpage now. And everytime I finish an Elsie Mae, I will put that one on her webpage.

Please know that I am working hard to get these full body dolls completed.

Elsie-Mae is a custom piece of artwork....like an orignal painting an artist would create.
My silicone Elsie-Mae was made entirely by hand!!!! She is a one of a kind piece of art. She may have slight imperfections here or there: like tiny bumps or lines or variations in certain details. This makes each item one of a kind. These are not considered flaws; but are original to the baby exactly the way I sculpted her & how the silicone reproduced her clay sculpture. As much a Elsie-Mae is a FABULOUS replica of an infant, her baby skin around her neck isn't completely "visually" seamless. Elsie-Mae is NOT a perfect manufactured factory made item. If you purchase one of my dolls, please do not expect to receive something "factory" manufactured. They are handmade by an artist....MYSELF :) This is what makes them uniquely special. She is a Collectors Quality Piece of Artwork to be cherished and displayed for generations to come. She is not a child's play toy.

Please note that although the new SOFT silicone is much more realistic and life-like; it seems more fragile than the older firmer silicone. Please be very gentle when handling her.

HAIR

My husband directionally micro-roots Elsie-Mae's head with a 46 gauge crown rooting needle from Germany.

He uses Slumberland mohair . My husband has really perfected his technique since he watched Cassie Peek and Rachels' training DVD's on rooting. It is stunning!

Elsie-Mae's head is totally solid.  Nothing has been hollowed out.

For this reason her hair cannot be sealed inside her head, so extreme care must be taken with her hair as it can come out with brushing etc.

You can gently wash, comb and style Elsie-Mae's hair

All the Elsie's will come home with the finest, softest micro rooted Kid angora mohair from SLUMBERLAND Nursery.

DETAILS

Baby Elsie Mae is 20 inches long.

His head circumference is 14 inches.

She is a Numbered Lmited Edtion of only 23 worldwide (plus she has 3 prototypes).

Elsie Mae is a one piece FULL BODY (anatomically correct) SUPER SOFT Eco-Flex platinum silicone doll.
I sculpted Elsie-Mae by hand out of a lump of polymer clay using no molds. I then had my original clay sculpture reproduced in silicone.

There will be no cloth body. She will not be jointed nor have an armature.
The soft silicone is much softer than the regular silicone. Her limbs will easily bend, move, and even her fingers will jiggle with movement when she is picked up.

SKINTONE

I meticulously hand-painted Elsie-Mae's skin with quality  paints to match the slightly mottled life tones of a newborn infant. She has real veining and capillaries under the thinner parts of her skin as well. The silicone I used for Elsie-Mae is the same silicone used in medical prosthetics. The paint I used is designed specifically to adhere to  medical prosthetics for use on humans.

Her silicone is permanently sealed & matted. She can be gently bathed in water.
Elsie's eyes and mouth are sealed shut; but she can take a magnetic pacifier and will come home with one.

Payment Information

Price: $3,000

Pre-Order Deposit: $500

A pre-order deposit is needed to hold your place in the edition. After the deposit is made, I will order your doll to be poured.

When your doll is ready, I will send you photos of her and invoice you for the remaining amount.

NO ONE is ever required to pay the full balance on their baby before the baby is ready & photos of completed doll are seen.

There is an order that I go in while I am making dolls. Whomever pays their deposit first becomes number one and whomever pay their deposit second becomes number two.

No one is required to pay in full. PAYING IN FULL does not mean you will get your doll sooner. If you have the number 4 Joel and you decide pay in full, you will still have to wait your turn to get your baby. This is why I discourage people paying in full before their doll is ready. The only exception to this is those who choose to make monthly layaway payments. The layaway must be paid in full before they will receive their doll.

Layaway Information

I will be accepting Layaway Payments of $265 a month for 10 months (no deposit needs to be made).

Your doll will be shipped to you the same week you make the final payment. Please note that the layaway option puts you at the end of the numbered edition.

PAYMENT TERMS: All deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. That means if you are unable to complete your purchase; you will not be able to receive a refund. It also means that your deposit may not be transferred to purchase a different baby. All timeframes are estimated and are not guaranteed as this is hand-made by an artist. Any payments made toward layaways are not refundable should you change your mind or miss more than one monthly payment. If you choose NOT to do the layaway, but instead choose to only pay the deposit and then pay the full balance once your baby is ready, then you will have 4 weeks to pay the final invoice. If you have any questions about this policy please be sure to ask prior to making a commitment to purchase a baby doll.
